Nintendo have not made an operating profit overall this generation.

Yeah I know, it should have been put in the OP to avoid people coming into the thread and going mental, but really it's sad what this thread turned into. The point is valid, Nintendo's Products this generation have not made a profit, even if Nintendo itself will make a profit overall. But people came in and rather than be sensible just decided to bitch.

 

Their products might not have made a profit yet this gen but I believe Nintendo is becoming self aware of the potential money making their IPs can offer.  They are about to get into movies with the sale of most of their stake in the Seattle Marriners (almost all 3D animations movies make big bucks even if they are based off semi stupid premises (the most recent what do pets do when you are gone movie comes to my mind)), they are working with Universal Studios for theme park rides, selling more toys than usual with amiibo and other expansions in toy market (surprised they don't team up with Lego for a Zelda or Metroid theme sets), and basically pushing their IPs more onto anything they can.  Did they share their IPs in the past with other companies?  Sure but it seems to be more of a push these days.
