Not really news to anybody at this point is it?

Also, while Ubisoft have certainly had very obvious and blatant issues with downgrades in recent history, let's keep in mind that this kind of thing can happen with a lot of games/developers, and it's not like they're necessarily trying to dupe people into thinking their product looks better than it actually does. In most instances I'm sure this is simply a result of publishers forcing devs to show off their devs games way too early, at a stage where the team is high on ambition, and low on actual content produced/finished, so it's probably easy for a team to get lost in their own hype so to speak, where they think oh ya we're totally gonna be able to ship with this in the game, and these features, and it's all gonna be crazy detailed, etc, etc. Then as they get further along, the reality of the situation starts to set in and things have to be scaled back for various reasons. Hardware, deadlines, budget....whatever it is.

So ya....even though this is happening a lot with Ubisoft lately, and they're wearing rather thin on customer trust, I don't really like this notion that they're intentionally setting out to deceive people. Publishers just need to stop showing off games 2-3 years before they're ready, and then things like this won't happen.
