Not sure about Erdogan supporting ISIS. I was at a DFID and NGO meeting a few years back about Syria and long and short of it is Turkey as supplying rebels to fight ISIS, but not in partnership with the west. The west isn't happy with this and suspicious. Turkey doesn't want to be caught with their pants down the way Britain was.

The UK sent £600 million in aid to Syria ignoring Islamic NGOs that were on the ground and the money mostly ended up in the hands of ISIS. The UK was tricked as there are over 150 rebel groups in Syria split between extremists, government loyalists, and rebels fighting both the above.

This is a class case of ignorance as pointed out before where many think we will be better without Erdogan when realistically the coup could have made things far worse.

A secular government could have gone into Syria backing the wrong faction and opening Turkey up to more attacks. It could have destabilised Turkey more like it has happened with Iraq and Libya.

The more Islamic countries fall in that region, the more unstable they become, the greater the consequences for everyone living in Europe.

I don't want our 2 cents creating another shambles like Iraq.it's like we have learnt absolutely nothing.
