I know all that.

I want Turkey to remain islamist so it's a guarantee it never can become a member of the EU.

We just struck a deal with Turkey about the Syrian refugees and restrict their passage into Europe. With a coup the floodgates might open again.

I don't like coups. They're illegal and undemocratic. Communist and socialists support coups. I do not.

Etc

Yeah I am not a fan of coups I just don't like the direction it was going. We already had the issue with the German comedian who had to shut up because he did an (horrible) song about Erdogan and in the Netherlands civilians with Turkish roots were applauding that Erdogan was giving a Dutch Turkish journalist house arrest because she dared to criticize Erdogan. Turkey with Erdogan has influence what is happening in Europe.

Yeah, he is a tough guy. He is obviously an autocrat, very nationalist (which is not a bad thing), and imperialistic (which is a bad thing). It's funny how he interfers with European internal matters, like those you mentioned, and this god damn undemocratic Mutti Merkel caved in! And he could flip-flop on the migrant issue, all of a sudden we're all his hostages. He is also against Assad and secretly supporting the Islamic State, which I don't like.

But I don't like the forced secularity on the Turkish people either since the days of Atatürk. Atatürk overexaggerated the secularism to the point it became undemocratic and harassment against religion, which all the elections in favor of islamists since then have proved. Despite the totalitarianism of Erdogan he still won the last election, which is an expression of the will of the people.

If the coup guys win I hope they find a middle ground in Turkish domestic politics, and that they became a reliable partner with the EU, and slightly less imperialistic.
