Feb NPD

  1. Ps2 351.8K 88/wk
  2. Ps3 280.8K 71/wk
  3. Psp 243.1K 61/wk
  4. 360 254.6K 64/wk
  5. NDS 587.6K 147/wk
  6. Wii 432K 108/wk

Take a look at March sales:

  1. Wii - 721k, 144k/wk (33% increase)
  2. DS - 698k, 140/wk
  3. PSP - 297k, 59k/wk
  4. X360 - 262k, 52k/wk (19% drop)
  5. PS3 - 257k, 51k/wk (28% drop)
  6. PS2 - 216k, 43k/wk (51% drop)

Now April:

  1. Wii - 714k, 178k/wk (+24%)
  2. DS - 415k, 104k/wk (-26%)
  3. PSP - 193k, 48k/wk (-19%)
  4. X360 - 188k, 47k/wk (-10%)
  5. PS3 - 187k, 47k/wk (-8%)
  6. PS2 - 124k, 31k/wk (-28%)

Notice that the DS, PSP and PS2 suffered huge declines? The PS3/360 sales declines are much less than the weekly declines of the DS/PSP/PS2. That means the PS3/360 outperformed them for April by a fairly significant margin.

What would cause this outperformance of the DS/PSP/PS2? It has to be GTAIV, so yes indeed sales were improved over what could have been an otherwise dreadful month.

Notice how the Ps2 suffered a huge decline? the Ps3/360 declines are much less. That means the Ps3 and 360 just cant be compared to different platforms. Your logic fails.

Using March and Aprils NPD numbers and not going back more is called cherry picking

I don't really see how you proved him wrong. Wii's weekly sales increased 2 months in a row, and PS3/PS3/360's weekly sales decreased 2 months in a row.

FishyJoe's original point was that the PS360 didn't decrease as bad as the PS2, due to GTA4.  All you proved is that every console is declining but the Wii.  This is the natural February-March-April slump, and GTA4 barely had any effect on it, but it DID soften the blow to PS360 and didn't soften the blow to PS2.

Basically, everything flops during this period except for the Wii because it's magical, and the PS2 flops super hard because it's getting old and didn't get GTA4.
