Bullshit, the Wii audience is not "their audience", most of them came that gen alone, their real audience is either buying their products or waiting for something that makes them want to buy them again.

And no, a franchise like Zelda will lose its popularity without the main aaa games, if suddlenly the brand turns into little free to play mobile games with no mainline aaa experience, the franchise would slowly die, is not wise, and they won't do it, just like they didn't went 100% handheld just because they were way more succesful than homeconsoles.

They can go one more round with the NX but their main audience the dedicated handheld audience is moving to iOS and Android at a fast pace.  Pokemon Go is only the beginning on mobile.  Nintendo will drown in cash when they full embrace being a third party mobile dev.

Nothing stopping them releasing a few console AAA games on ps4/X1/pc or PS5/x2/pc.  Most Wii U fans own one of those platforms anyway so they'll still get their sales plus more.

It doesnt matter how hard you try to convince yourself Kerotan, Nintendo is not going third party anytime soon, you can keep dreaming with a world where Nintendo is out of the competition, but this is not gonna happen, you simply dont understand Nintendo at all, as long as there is a chance for them to keep selling games on their own hardware they will keep and keep trying, and having so much money from the mobile division only means they can even allow themself to fail again, and then try again. Their entire company has a mindset and a way of working, they are not gonna radically change that as long as they can stay alive that way, and watching them having one of the biggest stock increases in the history of the industry, I would say they can stay alive like this for a very long time.
