Oh definitely.  But that they had something as gorgeous as Rainbow Road 64 and Bowser's Castle in Mario Kart 8 just one and a half years after the launch of the system is impressive.  But yeah, Xenoblade Chronicles X and Breath of the wild really show how far they came in a fairly short span.   Also they show how ridiculous the people saying Nintendo doesn't need more powerful hardware are.  Nintendo'stuff been squirming within the confines of the Wii U since 2014.

Obviously they need more powerful hardware to improve their games technically, but they don't need to have the best specs of the market to deliver the best games of the generation. That's what i think most people are saying.

Well no people have said it with regards to visuals.  I'm just pointing out it's quite obvious that Nintendo is straining the Wii U almost from the start.  Even Mario Karting 8 shows this.  The background shows considerable compromises, especially in Mario Circuit (Wii U).  And the framerate runs at 30 and other compromises are made when playing 4 player split screen.
