As far as crazy, have you ever stumbled on Sekai Oni (World Beast)? Probably the most messed up manga I've ever come across. All the "heroes" are basically mentally ill, with the little girl who is kind of the main character having one of the worst lives possible. These are the people who are supposed to save the world. They're mostly considered crazy because they don't see their reflection when they look in the mirror, they see monsters and wierd stuff that talks to them or other things of that nature. That world turns out to be real, though, and monsters are crossing over into the this world and slaughtering humans. Lots of tragic happenings. There is a scene where one girl goes crazy and cuts off a guy's ... well, anyway, it's a mind-trip. |
With the references + insanity + violence + regeneration, the movie girl in Fire Punch is basically Deadpool.
Speaking of Sekai Oni, the author has a new series going titled Good Night World about a family in a VR game. So far not as messed up as Sekai Oni but it's still pretty sad.
