BLIZZARD TEASES A NEW OVERWATCH CHARACTER WITH A UNIQUE "BIOTIC RIFLE"

Blizzard has tweeted a “confidential” image of a “prototype biotic rifle” that, according to notes provided by designer Torbjörn Lindholm, is intended only to be used for healing. But Angela Ziegler, otherwise known as Mercy—the Overwatch team's foremost healer—believes it could very easily be put to more nefarious purposes.

 

TEAM FORTRESS 2 GETTING COMPETITIVE MODE AND MATCHMAKING IN "MEET YOUR MATCH" UPDATE

Team Fortress 2 was released nine years ago (wow, right?) and today Valve announced that the upcoming Meet Your Match update will finally bring the long-awaited matchmaking and a full-on Competitive Mode to the game.

 

OVERWATCH SEASON TWO WILL REMOVE SUDDEN DEATH IN FAVOUR OF TIES

Late last month, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan confirmed that Blizzard would re-assess the competitive mode's coin flip and Sudden Death mechanic, following widespread claims that it is unfair. At that time it wasn't clear when that would happen, but in an interview with PC Gamer's Steven Messner to publish later this week, the game's principle designer Scott Mercer confirmed that Sudden Death would be removed in season two.

 

GET TRIALS OF THE BLOOD DRAGON FREE FOR MASTERING THE DEMO

If you're keen to try Trials of the Blood Dragon but have yet to bite the bullet, you'd be well advised to wait until July 22. On that day, players who download the demo and complete it in 15 or less turns will be gifted the whole game, free of charge.

 

EVOLVE GOES FREE-TO-PLAY, BETA STARTS TOMORROW

Following the appearance of a mysterious counter on the Evolve website this week, and the game's removal from Steam, many speculated that the game was about to go free-to-play. Well, it turns out those speculations were correct, because studio Turtle Rock has confirmed as much in its official forums.

I suppose it's fitting that Evolve should be the game to shed its skin and re-emerge glistening as a free-to-play game. 'Stage 2' as it has been dubbed goes live in beta form today. As well as the missing price tag, returning players can expect a massive overhaul.
