6500 is $40 cheaper than 6600k and should be more than enough for a single 1060. 6100 is $120 cheaper than 6600k, but will bottleneck the 1060 in certain CPU intensive games. Or you could wait for AMD's new Zen architecture later this year and see how it competes with Intel's offerings, that's what I'm doing.

I'm not building my PC until later this year when the cards drop down to their MSRP anyway, so I'll certainly keep an eye out for what Zen has to offer.

Will you upgrade your CPU when you replace the 1060 with a new GPU?

YES => get a less capable processor, the 6600K isn't worth it.

NO => get the 6600K or higher, as a less capable CPU could become a bottleneck for your next-next card.
