Snaking is using the turbo slide to go back and forth across straight aways to get speed boosts. It was viewed as the only skill that mattered to most of the MK:DS online community and was extremely powerful. The hardcore fans have been bitching and moaning about it being crippled since it was first rumored to be on the way out. The removal of snaking certainly caused the average review score to drop a bit because it takes the game further from being a sim racer and closer to being a party game.
