Issue with locking threads.

I've considered in the past giving threads "lock warnings" 15 minutes before being closed, but I don't believe that will help with your problem, since you won't be reading new posts while you're working on your current post (on top of other issues that would come with such an announcement). So while I sympathize with your problem...we don't have a working solution to it currently.

My advice is to either use a separate word processing program (Word or something similar) to write your post, and then copy+paste that onto VGC, to ensure you don't lose your content, or to copy your content before posting. If you notice an OP has poor intent, or is breaking one or more rules, it's good to take this precaution just in case.

What about my suggestion of reallowing the reply if you started before the lock and if there are people abusing it you moderate them... because certainly the thread won't continue for much longer after closed anyway so the potential damage is minimal
