The idea that there is no completion in the capitalist endeavors of console sales is a delusion in itself. Opening up online completely to Microsoft would slightly weaken sonys sales by default since people would no longer be tied to brands. Since consoles are secondary to microsoft the pro consumer choice would put Sony and the console realm at odds with a brand less society (since consoles formats and games are their bread and butter now). They would be playing right into microsofts hands.
