If you are only interested in gaming, maybe (just maybe) an XboxOne is better value, in the short term.

But, why are you comparing a PC from today to an XboxOne S from the future? By next year, AMD will have an APU that's as powerful as the xboxOne, making the PC just as fast as the console, for about the same price, with free online and capable of playing not only MSoft games but also games from Steam, Origin, U-Play, GOG, etc. And on top of that, you'll be able to add a graphics card in a couple of years to improve its capabilities into something like the Scorpio, something that you won't be able to do with the console.

Value is a very subjective term.

By the time the AMD APU launches the xbox one will be cheaper than it is now.  Free Online is a plus for PC but the amount of games you get from paying $60 a year is overwhelming. The Xbox One and steam have many of the same games. Origin and EA Access are basically the same but EA Acess has more console exclusive games. U-Play is just Ubisoft games that are also on Xbox One. I'm not familiar with GOG so i cant comment on that. Microsoft are showing that the Xbox One S will have support for many more years and it will be cheaper in the Future to upgrade to a Scorpio when the next upgradable Scorpio comes out.
