You know what you should do? Go to your gamestop/bestbuy/whatever and pick up cheap(but fun) games for the wii. There are some really good games for the wii that cost 10 bucks or less.
As for the wii u, your kid will love it. If he likes pokemon, then pokken is a game he'd enjoy. Otherwise there's a lot of good games for the wii u.
