Sony didn't plan on losing billions on PS3, they felt it was necessary to get it off the ground.

At the moment they are more competitive (but that could also be they have a cheaper console to make, we can't be sure, altough considering ESRAM and lower sales they probably are more expensive), but how safe can we be that it will keep on new gen?

Sony CEO have multiple times said their objective on PS4 HW wasn't profit but to have the best adoption rate they could (and they are achieving it so far), so I see Sony cutting price of Neo if necessary to compete with Scorpio, while I haven't seem nothing like that from MS, but have seem they saying they don't care if people preffer to buy on PC instead of buying a X1.

Yeah, I don't believe Sony's CEO. Profit is a huge concern and that's a big reason Playstation fans pay for online play now. Which is fine, Sony is a business.
