This technology has been in the works for a long time. Nintendo started playing with 3D back with the Game Cube days. I remember hearing that they even showed off the technology at E3 behind closed doors but I can't find the sources.

I also remember there was a lot of rumors that the then called "Revolution" was going to support this technology and potentially even have a built in projector at one point. I'm curious to see where this goes.
