Gen wunner alert.
Look at pokemon from the first two gens and you'll realize that a lot of them would be bashed to death for "unoriginal ideas"
Pokemon in general are just animals with some modifications. That's what they are. It's been the same thing since the beginning. Always some good ones and some...unique ones.
