Portugal usually plays in 4-2-3-1 or 4-5-1 whenever they know they can control the match. The reason for playing today on 4-4-2 on a diamond formation is solely for counter attack purpose, Adrien will be the creative midfielder and we all know he's no Deco to dictate the plays or hold the ball. Renato and Joao Mario will give assistance to the full backs that will play as wing back. 

portugal has been playing 442 the whole euro, nani is not playing as an actual winger now. but we will see, i guarantee portugal will take the ball for the most part in this match. unless they score too early and feel comfortable letting poland taking some risks.
