I think it's clear MS wants a good chunk of the PC market, we just don't know how they will go about it.

Without Steam and locking their games behind the Windows 10's store, they will have a hard time trying to be successful on the PC Market.

They will have a hard time getting the PC crowd but if they keep Xbox and still release hardware they will have the Xbox crowd and hope to make Windows store a more attractive place for PC gamers in the future.
