I think the wii u lack of sales are representive of the casuals losing interest in nintendo hardware and not the nintendo fans being mad at nintendo because of  "Nintendo fans aren't accepting excessive game droughts.". How many of the nintendo fans bought the wii u within the first year it was out versus years later? I'm sure many nintendo fans bought the wii u early in the gen because they had faith that nintendo would deliver on the games. No one really knows how good the game library for console will be til after a few years it's been out in the market.  I doubt that casuals bought 10 million plus wii u's while the nintendo fans didn't buy any. Do you really expect casuals to be the early adopters of the wii u versus the nintendo fanbase?  Hence why I rolled on the floor laughing at the idea of nintendo fans aren't accepting of excessive game droughts. You really can't punish a company for not supporting their product (wii u) with games when you already bought it.

I guess I should specify that I don't mean literally every single Nintendo fan but the majority. It should be common knowledge that no fanbase is a hive mind rather than unique individuals, so of course there are fans who've sucked up and bought one like myself, just like there are some fans who'll buy and defend blatant garbage like Color Splash. An installbase isn't 100% made up of either casuals or fans but a mixture. You're right that casual's have greatly lost interest in Nintendo hardware as apparent by casual game sales vs. Nintendo's core title's sales, but that only makes what I'm saying even more obvious when you compare 3DS and Wii U sales. Also, being a fan does not mean you have to buy a console immediately, I didn't get a Wii U until two years later, and yes there were definitely familys buying Wii Us for the holidays alongside fans during it's launch like with any system, and also with any system the majority of it's sales are from it's legs. I should also specify that by droughts I also mean a lack of games in general, and there are other factors too like high cost and the controller.
