My thoughts exactly. People assume just because Nintendo has $10 billion in reserves that they will continue to burn through money trying to create another successful home console after two consecutive flops. The fact is if NX flops that will send a clear message to Nintendo that the majority of gamers are simply not interested in their consoles anymore and they should move on. |
Yup, WiiU didn't perform very well, that's why the NX is coming earlier then expected. The NX is trying to recover what the WiiU lost in terms of marketshare. If the NX fails they are not going to try again, not to mention Nintendo's already falling reputation will be shot.
I don't think the NX will perform as badly as the WiiU, but if it does Nintendo need to change their business. Whether it be going to handheld/mobile devices or releasing there games on pc/PlayStation/Xbox. If the NX sells poorly they can't continue in the home console market.
