Am I reading this correctly? Nintendo is increasing the price of the Wii-U?

The majority of remaining Wii U stock is currently the property of retailers. Nintendo has almost completely fulfilled shipping commitments of Wii U hardware, so whatever's left on stock shelves and retailer inventory will suffice. Thus, they're telling us to "Grab a Wii U while you can."

Restocking from the factory will be sparse and directed towards areas with high Wii U demand, like Japan. 2016 is a transitional year while Nintendo winds down its Wii U production and ships remaining inventory, which happens incrementally rather than all at once.

Prices aren't going to increase, but retailers will not be incentivized to clearance Wii U hardware unless it becomes abundantly clear that Wii U hardware will never sell-through. I expect that prices of Wii U on auction sites like eBay will start to rise as soon as the console is officially discontinued next year, given the collector's value of Nintendo content.
