Wouldn't mind a read over it to hear the ideas of what that S model brings to the gaming side of things, I had thought it was purely media which got the resolution change. Awesome if some games get nicely stretched up to 4k though if it's done right. |
The Slim doesn't alter the resolution one iota. If anything, it MAY allow for HDRI(High Dynamic Range Imaging) during gameplay but there have been very ambiguous messages about this. But upscaling internally from 720-1080P up to 2160P is not happening outside of the usual upscaling that occurs whenever you connect ANY console up to a HDTV. If I connect my standard PS4 to a 4K TV, the image is automatically upscaled to 4K but it is not true native 4k. From my limited understanding, it is a hypothesized 2160(4K) image based on whatever the native source materal was(say 1080P if playing a standard blu ray).
