IE they and Sony want to con gamers into spending $400 a pop every two years or so instead of every five or six.

If Nintendo jumps on that bandwagon too, I might just be done buying game consoles. Might just have to get a Steambox eventually for indie games, who knows.

Xbox is a bit off track, but neither company are telling you that you have to buy a new console every two years (btw, it will have been three by the time PS4K comes out). Your XB1/PS4 that you bought in 2013 will still be supported and play the same games as the newer models, you'll just miss out on higher frame rates and 4K (both of which, if important to you, would have initially led you to PC).

In all honesty, this line of thought has become rather annoying because it is both wrong and spammed all over. I don't know why people assume Sony and Microsoft are going to remotely brick their consoles and make them by new ones, but this needs to stop.
