I, for one, will only buy the game used if I buy it. As a collector I'll probably buy it, but I won't support the company for making a game that is directly ignoring hundreds of thousands of peoples' feedback. And I don't think hundreds of thousands is an exaggeration, personally.

That's an understandable compromise. Voting with your wallet is a mantra I try to adhere to also. As a non-fan I'll admit I don't quite understand they intense hatred, but I can still relate to it; I felt similarly towards games like Starfox Adventures, Wind Waker, and Federation Force, which took franchises I loved in direction I didn't.

I mean I wouldn't even call myself a massive PM fan. I loved 64, don't like the GC as a system so I don't have the ability to play TTYD, never really started SPM, and tried SS out of morbid curiosity. SS is legitimately, unequivocally a bad game. It fails as an adventure game, it bombs as an RPG, and most importantly, it's objectively not a PM game. It uses the Paper part well, to its credit, but it'd be similar to if they took CoD, made it into a Ratchet & Clank game, and expected us to like it. And even that comparison isn't apt because CoD could still function as a TPS.

I just don't get the reasoning at all. I even said somewhere else that the Mario & Luigi argument misses the key difference between the two franchises: M&L is designed to be a game where you take Mario characters and throw them outward in a different universe of sorts, whereas PM is taking Mario and bringing it inward and expanding character types and tropes rather than extending the tropes to new original character/enemy types.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
