Maybe I misunderstood you, I thought you were coming from the angle of Nintendo just throwing their games on the Xbox platform. But if they actually partnered (key word: partnered) with MS, or Sony, and developed the hardware together (so both sides knew how it worked from the inside out) then I think that would be a great scenario. Couple that with mobile for Japan (and the rest of the world in general) it could be a pretty good deal for them. |
I'm sure MS wouldn't really even have much of a problem taking into account some of Nintendo's wants, but hardware these days is largely just PC components anyway, I'm sure Nintendo even knows that.
One thing MS could really do to sweeten the pot is allow Nintendo to have their logo on the system itself (along with the MS logo if they want). Not a big deal, but I think for Nintendo they would like that. Nintendo could also handle distribution/sales of the machine in Japan.
Hell, Nintendo could just sell their own XBox with its own Nintendo controller ... you look at where the XBox brand is going, that really wouldn't be unheard of since XBox seems to becoming more of like a standardized format like DVD or Blu-Ray with multiple hardware form factors.
All those types of things I could see MS agreeing to, I don't think MS really gives a crap about any of that stuff anyway.
It could be a good fit if the NX doesn't work out.
