For some things, but not what he is suggesting in finest graphical performance, while I still have all my older consoles ready to be set up, a lot of them have their librarys of games packed away in storage rooms in my house as such for things like the SNES or Megadrive I find it a hell of a lot easier to use a PC tucked under the TV for those sort of console experiences.
As for playing PC style games.... not really no, Overwatch and WoW are the 2 pc type games I use my main PC for and neither of those would work that well with a gamepad really in comparison to mouse / keyboard.
