A 2nd screen only really works to me if it's directly adjacent to the 1st screen like with the DS and 3DS. For all the Wii U games that seem to need the 2nd screen (like Mario Maker), I feel like a trackpad on the controller would have done a good enough job. I mean, doing things like sorting inventory or having a map available at all times are nice features but if it needed a 2nd screen that's going to eat up a ton of battery life on the contoller and add 50-100 dollars to the Wii U's price tag, then I could have done without it.
I hope Aonuma's criticism is a sign that there won't be another 2nd screen on the NX's controller because the last thing I would want is an expensive controller gimmick that's going to significantly add to the console's retail price at the expense of potential power.
