Iterative, eventually leading to streaming. Love it.

Takes deep pockets to be FULLY involved from both consumer AND manufacturer perspective.

I have no idea how Ninty fits in?

I dont think gaming will ever be primarily based off streaming. Its just too cost prohibitive.

There is just no way around this, if 1M people are playing Let say Horizon at the same time. At exactly the same time, you are going to need a 1M servers that can run ome million instances of that game fir 1M gamers, or even more expenzive servers where each one can run 2 instances of thr gane fir 2 users. Either way its expensive. Very.

Consoles require the consumer pays for most if not all of the hardware. Streaming requires that the platform holder pays for all of the hardware. Its just not feasible. It would always be cheaper and more efficient selling hardware to consumers.

Ninty, well..... nintendo will nintendo. But there is an angle nintendo can take. I believe the will see success if they go for a handheld console thats poeerful enough to pass for a respectable home console too when plugged into a TV.

This isn't really how virtualized machines work at all, keep in mind the PS4 does a lot more than just run the game, there is a lot of things going on inside the system which all take a toll on its resources, a virtualization server is not going to be doing things like monitoring your friends list in the background, even things like the in game capturing would obviously be handed over to the PS4 at your end, simply recording the visuals being streamed down.. lol even the clock functionality would be handled locally! I'm just saying that even on dumb terminals in a bank, not every little thing is run from the Virtualization Server.

Still thought I'm not sure that streaming technology is really close to being able to replace the system in our house with 4k streaming systems, but it's hard to predict the future when it comes to technologies, that said, often when it comes to a new product you will have customers look to the past to see how previous versions of it worked, such as Onlive, while technology moves forwards you have to show customers  a product so good they'll forget past failures.

Also keep in mind that Playstation Now is not available in more countries than it is, Sony are a long way away from being able to stream ps2 power out properly globally.
