I got to watch a good deal of the treehouse and was encouraged that, even while avoiding many areas of interest and sticking to one area so as to not spoil anything, it still looked plenty fun to explore. It's not merely an empty, flat landscape, but has much to find, hidden dungeons/treasure chests, and things to fight.
Can't vouch for the rest of the map, but I liked what I saw so far... and yes, it was surprising to see just how large it is.
