I agree with you on this, but looking at the global announcements, "Wow" factors and other megatons, this conference was lacking, almost everything was already announced last year, except for the annual Forza (Fifa-like level of surprise...), Dead Rising (not exclusive), Gwent (multiplat) and State of Decay 2. The huge announcements were the hardware ones, and I think the second one (Scorpio) was poorly handled and killed the first one (Slim). And of course leaked, but that's another issue. The major announcement is clearly the "all games are for PC too", which is cool for PC gamers. But for a E3 conference, it really lacks some impact from a games perspective. No big E3 classic communication megaton game we'll talk about in the next few weeks/months, that's what's laking the most IMO. Not a bad conference if you take out the Scorpio segment, but no exciting segment either. I like to read mainstream newssites the day after the E3 conferences (some of the big french newssites like to speak about it), they were until now pretty disappointed about this E3, and I'm not sure this E3 conference will be better than the rest... |
Xbox has lacked "wow" factor quantity on a global scale since they went to churning out the big 3 (Halo, Forza, and Gears) and relied solely on the success of the 360 to pull in the "better" version of the multiplats last gen. Now they lack that advantage and are struggling to push out any unique new content not tied to their big 3. Also couple that with the leaks, which are becoming more prevalent these days, and it is really hard to be surprised by a news conference these days.
