The situation isn't that bad in the U.S. May was a pretty bad month, no argument there. Also, Q1 showed that it's clear that the XBO has passed its maximum sales potential at the $350 price point. But overall, the XBO has been selling quite well in the U.S. Adding up all the NPD numbers I have so far, the XBO has passed the 12 million mark domestically, which is pretty damn good. But yeah, outside the US & UK, the XBO is doing dreadfully. It's bombing far worse in Japan than anyone thought possible and has been in steady freefall, and in continental Europe it's closer to the Wii U in sales than it is to the PS4. Xbox is, much like the original, going back to being a system that does not appeal to many outside of Anglosphere nations.

I have seen lots of pan-European GfK data points which agree with this assumption...it's not a phenomenon present exclusively in Chartz estimates...it's an actual fact. PS4 far exceeds Xbox One in pretty much all European countries.

Xbox One is a decidedly niche system. Going from a market leader to a niche system is a much more staggering decline for Microsoft because they aren't nearly as invested into the video game business as Nintendo is....they can afford to discontinue their video gaming division tomorrow and still thrive as a company. That makes it even more important for Xbox products to do well....when they're not doing well like this, I fear for the future of Xbox as a platform.
