the main word i would use to describe him showing it off is "disgraceful".
it was horrendous, i remember watching the video in being in a state of disbelieve, they cant be really showing this off, and talking about it as if it were an amazing gaming experience. the robot and the controls were slow, clunky, unreponsive, and utter trash. i remember miyamoto saying something like "come on crowd be more excited!", no.. just fucking no, the game is shit and thats why nobody was excited. the game was so bad that he himself couldnt demo it, he had to bring another one from the development team because he was so bad at it. and what was baffling was that they were touting this game as a way to demostrate the features of the gamepad, the gamepad showed a first person view within the robot, then miyamoto said the best way to play was to bend down slightly to have your weight pressed forward so you wouldnt fall (basically the robots arent even fucking balanced when standing straight up) which resulted in the gamepad view to be looking down at the robots feet.... thats great game desgin.. what the flying fuck, how could he possibly desgin such utter trash? it took me one video to point out such glaring flaws in the desgin. yet somehow he couldnt comprehend that "hey, this just isnt good" no self respecting talented dev nowdays would show off something like project robot. and miyamoto was there, at E3, touting this as his big new IP that he was being working on and teased us with for a while. i personally think nobody at nintendo had the balls to tell him it was shit, and he has his head so far up his ass that he cant even see how bad the game was. and project gaurd, while certainly not on the same level of projot robot, is basically a mobile quality type of game, really, it was so boring to look at... sigh.
i will pretty much repeat a point i said earlier, Vince Zampella with Respawn created a new IP with robots (titans) and created titanfall (with legal battles and building a new studio at the same time, mind you). Miyamoto, with the full resources at Nintendo created a new IP with robots that is project robot, just look at the difference
he lost it, completely, and he is just dragging nintendo down. |
I get this is your opinion, but i think you're assuming a little bit, especially on his character on your latest posts. Project Robot is an experiment that tries to utilize the game pad. If the game pad is one of the main features of the Wii U, should he not use it? Plus, it was a demonstration that apparently none of us or anyone at E3 at the time tried out. Of course you can judge the game the way you want to, but I haven't tried it so I can't be sure. Plus, Project Guard apparently is given decent reviews and was praised for its utilization of the game pad.
Frankly, it's not a AAA project he's working on so its part of his experiments. He did mention he has taken interest in smaller projects so this is one of them, along with Guard. Plus, it's part of the Treehouse demonstration so it's something he felt he wanted to show off. In the end, we don't know what's become of this project. Why can't he try something different and experiment?
