Out of curiosity, how does not being in a relationship help one to be successful? That sounds a little strange.
I suppose that if you decided to start a relationship with a total deadbeat that would be bad, but in my experience, most people aren't like that. If anything, I would say being in a good relationship is more beneficial to success. And if you end up in a bad one by accident, you can break it up and start a new one, assuming you live in Europe, and not a non-liberalized nation.
