Couldn't I just get the Wii and Wii U games on the NX console if the library is good enough?

I highly doubt the NX will have double level backwards compatibility.

Metroid Prime Trilogy (you can get it digitally on Wii U for $20 and is one of the best coor games on the Wii and my personal favorite use of motion controls to create a superior experience)

Just to name some of the big, exclusive highlights that come to mind :P

And that's not to even speak of the exclusive or console exclusive indie darlings like FAST Racing Neo, Runbow, Affordable Space Adventures, and Freedom Planet.  

I mean, I'm not saying you should absolutely buy one but don't doubt the value potential if you skipped the Wii.  Some of the most acclaimed games and  definitely the most acclaimed exclusives of the last gen and this gen are on the system.
