The first one I encountered knowingly was a close friend of mine who came out as a lesbian in high school.
Seeing one of my best mates get bullied for that is one of the reasons I have a very low tolerance for homophobic bigotry. This girl was one of the nicest people you'd ever meet, but she got harrassed day in and day out just for being gay.
