You should probably play games like Freelancer to understand what Star Citizen is trying to achieve. |
I understand what they're trying to do. And yes, if they can pull it off, it will be mankind's greatest achievement and I will never leave the house again. The only issue I have with SC is that they market it as something that is just too good to be true and that it starts to feel more and more like a money grabbing scheme. I mean hardcore PC gamers are really craving for a game that finally makes the consoles feel like the toys that they are (hence why they always flip out when something like UC4 comes out). And with SC it seems like Chris Roberts is playing the frustrated pc gamers like a damn fiddle, telling them exactly what they want to hear and showing insane features that'll only work in the realm of pc gaming awesomess.
But just think about it: Normally when games get canned it sucks and that's it. But if this Godzilla project gets canned, the $100m that people invested in it will just go up in air. All the money people spend on ships and modules will basically be flushed down the toilet and they will be left with nothing. Hell, it's no wonder that the fanbase is so passionate on the forum when they poured hundreds of dollars in it and have been waiting years for a game to show for it. Personally, I think that it's very likely that SC will never be completed because they just can't stop adding new features to further delay the game... almost as if they're doing it on purpose. I'm also pretty sure that if the game gets canned, Chris Roberts will be laughing his way to the bank regardless.
