The controls. They work in RE4 because the game is built around them. RE5 is just a straight up action game where they dont work.
The inventory system in RE4 is great. Kinda a little puzzle game on its own. RE5 has a limited boring one. Switching items with your partner is a hassle.
The characters in RE4 actually has some kind of personality. Chris is one of the most boring gaming characters ever.
RE4 is meant as a SP. Thats what a horror game should be imo. Playing RE5 SP is rage inducing due the the poor AI of your partner.
RE4 actually has some scary moments. RE5 is about as scary as Die Hard.
RE4 did something new and reinvented the horror genre. RE5 just tried to copy it.
