It does make a difference because games sell the most during launch and sell significantly less as time moves on so if a game gets bundled later on in its life or gets restocked, they aren't really losing money...

What I was implying is... Most people would just save up for MK and SSB and not those smaller games and Nintendo would lose out on major profits. The people that buy MK and SSB aren't going to buy games like Pikmin and Xenoblade and the sales prove that. Nintendo won't be gaining those sales back through other games because people don't buy other games to the same extent as MK and SSB. People aren't gonna buy niche games just cause they got a big game for free... Most people would just use it for SSB and MK Nintendo would lose profits. SSB or MK sales are far more profitable the most of their niche games combined.

"This logic applies to all bundles. The point is to help the console sell so the games can."

Not really because of how Nintendo does their bundles... Their bundles are always very low in stock at launch so they can make the most amount of profit from the retail sales of the games themselves. After a few months since the game is out, they restock their bundles because the game is no longer selling as high as it once was. With your idea, their most profitable games would lose a good chunk of their profits due to the free game thing since most people don't care about their niche games and will just use it for one of the big games and be happy with it.

Really it would just be... Loss sales in either MK, SSB, Mario or Splatoon and people buying those wouldn't buy their niche games.

Yes they are, as long as they have a game bundled with the console they're losing potential money, atleast in a not big picture sense.

Are you implying that everyone buys Nintendo systems solely for one game which is either Smash or Kart? (It's "or" not "and," bundle is one game only) Yes sales do prove otherwise, that they have plenty of other big names like Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Splatoon and plenty of games that while not huge sell well enough, so most people don't buy a system for one game and not everyone even gets Smash or Kart. If people really did as you're saying, then why aren't they doing it right now? I know both MK7 and MK8 are bundled at good deals right now, yet other games are still selling like normal.

There's always a bundle available, so they must still be buying one even if they're not getting one for the newest game. If they really wanted only the most profits, why even have any bundles at all? Again most people don't buy a system only for one game, and even if that were true, how is buying a NX and using the code on Mario Kart 9 any different from buying a MK8 Wii U bundle?

Well that's no different from right now since the only bundled games are big ones.

Well its not even close compared to if they were to do initially... (And kept it in stock.)

I was not, I was implying that people buy the console for the few big games and not the smaller niche games... According to vgc, most people on the wiiU buy MK, SSB, Splatoon (now) and Mario platformer games (and some others if we are including handheld)... Those are Nintendo's big profits and the thing is, people don't need a "free" game incentive to buy them since anyone that buys a Nintendo console would buy those anyway. But the issue is that with the free game thing Nintendo would lose profits on their major titles without getting much in return because the people that would have bought them anyway are now just getting their favorite one for free. I get that the point is to push the console but free Nintendo game isn't gonna make those that that don't care about Nintendo games buy a Nintendo console and those that care are gonna buy it regardless...

"There's always a bundle available"

No there isn't... Not at launch of a blah game... For most bundles that happen at launch of a blah game for Nintendo, they get out of stock quickly and never return in stock until months later... If they were restocking the bundles, then the hardware sales of the wiiU would be a lot higher...

Again, it is different because the way Nintendo does bundles for their major games is they have a really low stock at launch of the game and only resupply them months later after their peak sales so that they don't really lose much profit at all comparatively.. Where as with ur idea, they would lose profit because the biggest fans of blah major game would use their free game pass and not actually buy the game.

Anyway we are going around in circles so... #TheEnd4Me
