It's one game. You can't get Smash and Kart, only one of them. If you get Smash you have to buy Kart and vice versa, literally no different from bundles currently except you have way more choice in what that one game you get is. This also means the lost profits is spread thin across the NX's entire library so no single game should suffer much sales lost. |
It is different because a) Not every game gets bundled and b) The bundles are super limited during launch... When Mario Kart 8 bundle launched, it was out of stock super quickly without being in stock for months. Thats not because people kept on buying them but rather cause Nintendo wasn't resupplying them. Not to mention that not every country even gets bundles either and there is a reason for all of that which is that they are losing sales. And sure, its one game but people would buy that game regardless due to how great the games have been but now, they would just get it for free.
And its hardly spread thin if its Mario Kart or Smash Bros which sell over 5 million each and far exceed the sales of their other franchises... And not to mention that some of those bundles cost more than the base price of the wiiU. Oh and it's also a gamble... If the NX flops and they are scrambling for money and they are giving out one of their biggest games for free... RIP
