I think it's regional. North America is very much lacking in loyalty (my "main" has been Sega, Nintendo (multiple times), Playstation, and Xbox before lol), while other countries are somewhat... what's a word akin to xenophobic about outside products?

Really, I'm not sure there's a great deal of loyalty anywhere. Each brand has its dedicated followers but most are just looking for the best product at any given moment.

Japan is the only one that could be said to be "xenophobic" about outside products, but it's clear that that is more due to Japanese consoles getting more of the games Japanese people want to play than other consoles (ie. the xbox) does. In Europe it obviously can't have something do with Xenophobia because there is no european console

Yeah I was mostly thinking of Japan in regards to a general unwillingness to give imports a chance and, from what I understand. In that way they are somewhat more loyal to Sony or Nintendo simply because they'd never consider the Xbox in large numbers, but that's not really loyalty so much as it is avoidance of one of the only alternatives. Really, much like everyone else, even Japan's loyalty to Sony and Nintendo seems tenous, with most not really caring.

That generally just seems to be true all around. It may sometimes seem some consoles have a hugely loyal following that are selling less well than others, but that's because those are the only ones who purchased the thing. For the most part, every console has a segment of loyal followers, but to be any kind of success they need to appeal to the vast majority of gamers that are merely looking for the best experience within their price range.

This has been my personal experience in terms of what I largely treated as my "main": Nes>Genesis>N64>PS2>Xbox360>PS4 (though I own more Wii U games atm)

While I usually wind up owning all consoles, my main, much like most people I know, is constantly in flux with what's available. The same group of friends I played the xbox360 with throughout college are all now on the PS4.

Really, for that reason I'd say if any is the most "loyal" on that list it'd be those PC gamers who will never be swayed by a console, but "PC" isn't exactly a brand.
