I think the funny thing is the GWX program crashed more than 50% of the time on boot up trying to tell me to get Windows 10. No thanks, I have a good enough computer running 7 and I will stick with it till 2020 at the very least.

Upgrading for me would have been laughable if it didn't annoy me so much.  I'd click "upgrade now" and the download would start.  After that, it would tell me that the "installation might take awhile".  Okay, I'll go do something else.  What did I see when I came back?  "Windows 10 is ready to download!  Click here!"  Turns out this upgrade loop is common and has been common for awhile without being fixed.  The other issue I had was that it would hang up and stop at the same place.  First time I got tired of waiting and cancelled out but then I read that some people have waited for DAYS before the installation would finish.  I let it sit there for a long time and it eventually completed.

And then?  This part is funny.  Then it told me that I had no network drivers so it couldn't connect to the internet even though Windows 7 connected just fine.  Awesome.  I had to download them elsewhere and transfer them to my PC and install them manually.  I also had no sound for the first few days but SP1 did fix that, thankfully.

Just embrace it... windows 10 is better than windows 7 or 8,1 will ever be... I agree its a slippery slope them trying to force the install but in this instance M$ might just know whats better for you than you do.

Call me a casual but I don't need 10 and I like the UI on 7 over anything past it.  Hell, I'm thinking more and more about going with a Steam machine in the far future.  I only use my computer for Steam and internet.  What good does 10 have over 7?  DirectX 12?

There is virtually no difference relative to the vast majority of Windows users on a PC.  File Explorer is a lot better on W10 (libraries suck) but the Start Menu is a lot worse.  They threw customization out the window (heh) including a lot of nice options that were in the pre-release versions.  I don't use apps or the Windows store and really see no need for them.  Everything else is basically the same.  The only real reason to upgrade is that they're holding future support hostage.
