We have estimations from reliable sources, leaks and numbers from official sources (NPD, gfk, MC). Estimations that have been put forward to you in this very thread, with direct comparisons showing that Uncharted 4 is coming out on top by a clear distance. We know that Naughty Dog as a team has increased drastically in size since they expanded to 2 teams, and we know that ND have a project in the works for the last ~12 Months at least, which tells us that the entire ~300 person team was not working on Uncharted 4 for the full dev cycle. All this has already been posted to you and explained in detail. If you aren't happy with the 2.7 Million units in one week then what were you expecting from Uncharted 4, considering that we know this is already by far the best launch that Naughty Dog has ever had? |
We have an amalgamation of data with shipped vs. sold and estimations vs. actual numbers over different time periods. I don't think that is very conducive to discussing whether sales met expectations. And again, Uncharted 4's legs and the budget are major factors in this as well.
It's also likely that the 170 person team was split between UC3 and TLoU unless you believe TLoU was made in only 1.5 years. Both games had split teams. Difference was a 300 person team being split vs. a 170 person team being split.
I don't know what I was expecting, I'd have to see the budget of the game. And I also believe the legs are very important, but overall I think LTD of 12-15m for this type of game would be good assuming no excessive bundling or the price being slashed excessively, which would change this a bit.
It's easy to say UC4 outperformed UC3 or TLoU, but when you see TLoU legs, it seems they will end up very close to each other LTD, which imo is not much of a success.
