Not even close to comparable. Spiderman focuses on one character and they all take place in New York. They realised eventually they would hit a dead end. Their plans included a Sinister Six spinoff, a female Spiderman film, and a story about a Young Aunt May as a spy. The box-office declined with each movie.

With X-Men Fox can jump in time, focus on single characters with the rights to hundreds of characters that appeared in the comics over the years.

Marvel comics even made a rule that writers cannot make any new mutant or X-men characters because that just helps Fox.

I'm well aware of the CompleX. :P Considering Marvel do make money from these films, Disney's choice in that was extremely petty.

But Spiderman films were far more successful money wise, they made more than 700million each reaching as high as 850mil. X-men films 400mil at best for some for nearly the same budget. DoFP was the most successful out of the lot and that was also expensive too.

Spiderman was flawed because the actor ages and it's the same for X-men. Hugh Jackman cannot look like a guy who doesn't age that much when he does. :P At some point, Hugh Jackman will leave and they'll have to replace Wolverine. They have too choices really, restart or give it back to Marvel because a Hugh jackman less Wolverine might not succeed.

Hmm, pie.
