That has been my "idea" of what nintendo would/should do for along time as well.
A hybrid console, where the console is actually the handheld, you just put into a docking station.
Docking station:
Has a 2nd GPU portion, like crossfire/SLI, and it gives the handheld, the extra "oompf" needed to run the handheld games, at higher resolutions.
It could have active cooling, thus allowing the handheld docked, to overclock the CPU&GPU abit as well.
