Kind of weird splitting up the Gameboy and the color version. If i'm not mistaken both versions could play both games just one in color.

A similar argument would be Wii passing PS2 super slim version sales rather than all of PS2.

or PSP outselling the original DS model (which probably already happened) and calling it a huge accomplishment.

No doubt the PSP is very successful, but when you go to the lengths of saying it's outselling a certain version of a certain handheld, that's stretching it.

On top of that i don't think it's entirely accurate to compare consoles / hand helds that came out decades ago to the modern market, there are more people and more gamers.

Given the strength of the Sony brand as a system seller, i'd say PSP is doing ok. I think a true accomplishment would be if the PSP outsells any gameboy system's software totals, let alone hardware. Fact of the matter is most people don't even use a PSP as a gaming machine.
You actually are mistaken. It was only the black GBC carts that could play on the GB. Most of the carts were clear and too big and required specs too high. They were actually designed to not even fit in the original GB slot.

The GB and GBC are lumped together by Nintendo, but they are not the same system. So it is not the same as the PS2 and the PS2 slim.
I would say you're both half right.  The fact remains that many GBC games played on the GB, even if they were designed to do so.  It wasn't just a few games that were like that -- I heard it was 25%.  The GB/GBC situation is unique AFAIK.  I had a discussion on this subject a while ago.

My final comments in that thread (15760) were:  "I'm not trying to say that the GBC is a mere hardware revision of the GB like the Game Boy Pocket; my posts have made that clear.  But neither is it a totally new system like GB-->GBA-->DS.  It occupies a strange sort of middle ground that it may very well hold alone.  I just don't want it to be pigeonholed based on what we are more familiar with."

I don't think I'll dump all the arguments I made into this thread unless you request it, out of restraint.  It's only a one-page thread anyway.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.
