Forced is likely the wrong word but encouraging studios the freedom to take time away from their big IPs and grow, whilst also giving those IPs a rest instead of immediately giving it to someone else. God of War Ascension, Gears of War Judgement and even Little Big Planet 3 all felt like games that existed to meet a quota IMO.
