I really hope is Polaris, or better yet. Zen. The problem is, unless Nintendo get's a good deal, it'll be $399 for the console. That's just covers the console without a disk drive or controller. So the system would likely need to launch at $449 or $499. Which would be fine as many people would happily pay that much for a console with that much lasting value. Those chips are roughly said to be $349 for the lower end, but Nintendo will likely get a deal, maybe even a $100 off of that. The only problem is, Kimishima stated that the NX will not be sold at a loss. So yes, I think an official confirmation would be needed at this point. Despite Kimishima has a very different mindset from Iwata. You just never know, but I certainly hope so. It just means a loss may be required, which he stated to the shareholders that this will not be happening. |
Remember, Nintendo is going to do a deal for a custom chip based on polaris, they are not going to put a normal polaris gpu on the nx. My bet, it's going to be a $400 console or less if they find a way to sell a powerful console for $300.
