I kinda fell off the rumour wagon and am no longer up to date with all that we know about NX, but from what I know, NX will launch around March 2017. This made me think - what if Nintendo decided to reverse what it did with Wii U (old tech that only got more expensive with time) and instead went with the newest tech that will only get cheaper with time? And one that at the same price will offer better performance and efiiciency? What if Nintendo decided to use a fully 14 nm AMD APU consisting of a low-end Zen CPU and a Polaris 11 GPU? So basically a low end APU? I mean, at that point next year AMD will already have mastered the tech around Polaris (we'll probably have Vega already) and even Zen will be out for a few months.

What if all the delays (both of NX and of Zen) are caused by the deal between N and AMD, so AMD is now working on an APU for NX to release it asap?

Do you think it's possible? Would Nintendo go all-out like that? I'd love if they did, since they'd get so far ahead of competition it's not even funny and that is something they could sure use. Sony and MS are held back by the architecture of PS4 and Xbone and they have a limited field of upgrades, so Nintendo could take advantage of this and get a huge step ahead.

Is it possible? Would N do it? How good of an idea do you think it is? Would 3rd parties take advantage of the extra power?

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
